I Have Seen the Real

I have seen the real
that throws shadows on the cave,
Like long dark gamblers dice,
that bob and bounce and belly to scripted song.

What once was sail boat bobbing beauty
over theaters peddled and cogged waves,
now rasps and catches these known ply and paper lies.
The powdered paint returns to dust,
all moist dried through, like lamp skin,
hung heavy on chipped greasy chicken wired bones
held taut by pulped and bloodied paper mash.

Nothing can regain eyes once had
and nothing now can
masktheirrage.
